Juventas New Music Ensemble voices the musical culture of the present and the future by featuring music written by young, living composers. The Boston-based ensemble has seven core artists augmented with guest musicians to form a wide array of instrumentations. We focus on collaborative productions that cross disciplinary boundaries, presenting an unparalleled multi-disciplinary artistic experience. Recent projects include collaborations with dancers, painters, scientists, poets, visual artists, political activists, and even puppeteers in one-of-a-kind performances for those who love new music. Our annual Opera Project has received recognition from The American Prize, National Opera Association, and NYC Fringe Festival.
In addition to our regular concert series, Juventas has supported its mission of working with young composers through residencies at a variety of academic institutions, including The Boston Conservatory, Middlebury College, Worcester Polytechnical Institute, and Harvard University. We have also participated in a large number of recording projects, including collaborations with Parma Records, Innova Recordings, and an upcoming release with New Dynamic Records.
Juventas has received awards from the National Council for the Arts, Cambridge Arts Council, Harvard Musical Association and Free for all Concert Fund, and has performed at the NYC International Fringe Festival.
Juventas is the ancient Roman goddess of youth.
Most early-career composers struggle to find the necessary opportunities to spring forward into the professional field after the completion of their studies. Meanwhile, most audience members encounter only the occasional performance of contemporary works, all by a handful of aging composers.
Juventas New Music is unique in its focus specifically towards nurturing and showcasing the music-making of today's most brilliant emerging composers.
