To promote and perform new music by young, living composers.
Speaking new music, Sounding composers, Sparking community - Juventas new music ensemble voices the musical culture of the present by featuring repertoire of composers age 35 and under. Based in Boston, Massachusetts, the ensemble is a collective of several dozen musicians that form a wide array of instrumentations - both traditional and non-traditional.
Since its founding in 2005, Juventas has performed the work of over 40 composers in exhilarating concerts that showcase the diversity of contemporary music. From lyrical melodies to recorded sounds from outer space, Juventas performances are a tour de force through the most engaging music of a new generation. With over 20 concerts under its belt, the ensemble has steadily gained recognition.
The Boston Globe twice featured Juventas as a "Classical Music Pick," and the group has been invited to a wide range of events, including the Art Fair of Boston and a global summit for Images and Voices of Hope in New York. Highlights of the 07-08 season include world premieres of three chamber operas, the release of the Juventas Podcast, and a residency at The Boston Conservatory.
